How I saved $75,000 this year by traveling with points.

Cartagena, Colombia (February 2024)

So far this year we’ve traveled to Cartagena, Mexico City, Nashville, Detroit, Miami, DC, Budapest, Vienna, Prague and Amsterdam and it’s only July!

I like spreadsheets - there I said it ;) I am a big fan of organization and detail and spreadsheets make me feel cozy and organized. So, when the year started, I kept track of all of our points spending in 2024 and the cash price of each ticket and reservation and added it up…the amount we would have had to spend to take these trips just in the last 6 months? Over $75K.

And I didn’t do this by spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on credit cards to get the points needed for these trips. I did it by optimizing each dollar I spend to make sure I am getting maximum points and by focusing on high value redemptions (i.e. using transferable points to get really high value for each point).

A big part of this has been through welcome bonuses on various credit cards as well as by using a shopping portal and focusing on opening credit cards strategically.

One thing many people don’t realize is that nearly everyone qualifies for a business card…and that some of those cards have high welcome bonuses and $0 annual fees. Opening a card like this is a great way to accumulate points that you can convert into amazing trips with your family. Personal cards are great too but you just have to be super strategic and not just randomly open cards just because a welcome offer arrives in your inbox or you fly a certain airline.

Connect with me today (at no cost to you!) and I will help you figure out the best card for you so you can turn your everyday spending into amazing experiences for your family 🖤
